Being a Dad/Parent & Realtor

One of the greatest benefits of being a dad to an incredible little girl is sharing my work. What I mean by that, is I intentionally expose my work habits to my daughter. For several months now, my office has been located in our dinning room of our house. Obviously, given COVID-19, I have had to work out of my home rather than going into my office. My new work office has given my daughter the opportunity to see what I really do behind the scenes as a Realtor. You can tell she has taken to my new work style because for her birthday, she had to have her own laptop so she can "work like daddy does. " We have a couple extra bedrooms in our home that I could have easily secluded myself and my work in but I decided not to. I thought it was more important and educational for my daughter to see what I do. I will be honest, it is significantly harder to write an email with your little one around than behind a closed door. That being said, I really admire the interest my daughter has taken in my work. I have even taken her on a few showings myself which she really enjoys. I guess why I chose to write about this in my blog, is because given everything that is happening, everything may be a little harder and take longer to do, at the end of the day its nice to see that the little things in life still really do matter...even if it is your daughter showing interest in your work (which is actually a big deal for me).
Hi Sandy,
Thank you for the pleasant comment you posted. I am pretty lucky. Great to hear from you. I hope all is well with you.
Hi Christo - Sandy Lucas here. Just wanted to say what a nice thing it was today to read your column! Lots of people are experiencing being home with kids and working at the same time as, well, difficult - and I'm sure it is for you, too, sometimes - but what a wonderful gift for both of you to share this time! I read somewhere that young kids won't really remember what happened during this time, but they will remember how they felt. What a lucky girl your daughter is - and you, too! Take care -
Sandy
